Welcome to The Home of Team_Bammann.

You may not know how you ended up here. What is mersenne? Why search for prime numbers? It may just be best for you to nod and smile, and take for granted that searching for the worlds largest prime numbers isn’t a complete waste of time, but for those of you who are still interested, please, read on…

Sometime around the year 2002, Michael and Tom Bammann (aka “The Bammann Brothers”) started searching for untested mersenne prime numbers, as part of the Great Internet Mersenne Prime number search, created by Geroge Woltman, from MIT. By early 2005, we were both ranked about 5000 in the world. Unsatisfied with this ranking, we merged our efforts into Team_Bammann.

What are the tables on here for?

At the top of the page you can see a quick update of our Primenet ranking, although this is not the overall ranking in the GIMPS (Great Internet Mersenne Prime-number Search), which includes results entered from teams that do offline work. The first of the three tables below shows the full team details. The second of the three tables (click it to load) shows the Primenet ranking which is updated “regularly” but is not the official GIMPS ranking, which is the third of the three tables below (click to load).

How to join Team_Bammann

Naturally, we encourage you to join our team, rather than start your own. We are currently drafting up a constitution for the hopefully likely event that we win the US$100,000 prize money. To join, either start playing around with Prime95 yourself by downloading it, and when you are ready to join the team we can send you instructions on how to join via email. We encourage you to email the Bammann brothers to get the latest Prime95 install package with the team details already filled out. Let us know in the email which operating system and rough specs of your computer so we can recommend the best type of install for you to maximise the teams results. :)

Committee Members

We are looking to fulfill a role as a Marketing Manager, to recruit new members to the team. Committee members of Team_Bammann are:
