Hello everyone.

Becoming a Traceur and being good at Parkour/Free-running is NOT easy. It takes hard work and years of training to 'perfect' the art although it can never really be perfected.

Watching a documentary or some youtube videos does not make you an expert Traceur. No sane Traceur would recommend you to try anything without supervision or safety precautions until you feel safe and can do these things. Fear is what holds back the body, so don't be afraid.

Take safe precautions and injuries like that won't happen. ;)

I've been a Traceur for years now and have recently just turned 19. I never took lessons but I always trained with mats in the gym. Wall-runs, vaults, flips, jumps, rolls. I now do these things in many places and have travelled abroad to do Parkour.

Please be safe, for your own sake. It'll be much more satisfying when you become a master but also safe.

Hey, all
I was just out for a free running session at the park with some friends, and I tried to monkey vault over one of those metal park benches, and my knee turned out surprisingly similar to yours, but mine have purple around it..

Frerunning : is to found your own way with creativity and self-expression yo can go back if you want.

"Understand that parkour is form of art that has been created by few soldiers in Vietnam to escape or reach: and this is the spirit we'd like parkour to keep. You have to make the difference between what is useful and what is not in emergency situations. Then you'll know what is parkour and what is not. So if you do acrobatics things on the street with no other goal than showing off, please don't say it's parkour. Acrobatics existed a long time ago before parkour."

Hey Raj,
Im a 12 year old boy who would love to free run. For about an hour I watched videos and did some research on Free Running. I learned some so I practiced around my street. A few cuts and bruises "produced" though I had fun. So just watch some youtube videos and read some commentary.

                                                                Hope this helped,

Hi Raj,

I don't have any free-running contacts outside of Australia, although a quick google search revealed this place that looks suitable for beginners: http://www.moveitdance.co.uk/page.cfm/Action=Exhib/ExhibID=518
Also, a list of free running clubs: http://www.clubbz.com/find/Uxbridge/Free%20Running/clubs/1

With regards to starting a website, if it's a blog you're after I suggest heading over to wordpress.com. I'm not in the website industry, just run this blog for fun, so don't have any contacts sorry.

Cheers,
Tom
