Well there’s a first time for everything – and getting hit by a car on one of my push bikes was inevetible. Or in this case, I actually hit a car. But it wasn’t my fault – it was the taxi’s fault!! So this is how it was:
I was riding down my street, about 35km/hr, leaning back on the seat, riding with no hands, it was a beautiful day! A taxi reverses out, doesn’t give way to me, so I was forced to stop for it. In my mind, I disliked this taxi driver already – if I was a car of course he would have waited for me to drive past. So he takes off pretty quickly, and I pedal off pretty quickly. Then BAAAM I hit him. This was due to him slamming on the brakes such that he could talk to another taxi driver parked on the other side of the road. So sure, I should have left a little more distance between him and myself, but the fact that he accelerated so quickly, I figured he was going to go fast enough that I wouldn’t keep up for him for long – but of course I will if he slams on the brakes.
So anyway, I pulled a sweet nose wheelie, but the bike rotated around to my left and I ended up half on his boot. It was actually quite comfortable, and the soft paint of his car shielded the Italian componentary of my bicycle quite nicely. Whether or not I scratched his bumper I really don’t care (but for the record I did. — *YESSS!!!*)
