Hiking and Windy Cycling

Yesterday Morven and I went for a walk part way up to Mt Lofty.  At the point where the first one of us had had enough, we sat and watched some Rainbow Lorikeets.

Today I’ve been for a windy road ride.  I had a lot of problems with my front wheel spokes coming undone and not having a spoke wrench on me, I had to keep stopping to tighten them with my fingers.  At one point where I stopped I spotted a koala in a tree.  I asked kindly, although he/she didn’t help me with my spokes.

Cleland Wildlife Park / Mini Helicopter

Today I went up to Cleland Wildlife Park with Morven, her mother, and her Aunt from Scotland. It’s probably best to let the photos do the talking. I took Dad’s Canon 350D camera and practiced my photography. My favourite photo I took is a water bird (swan?).

The highlights were seeing a Tasmanian Devil (which I don’t think I’ve seen before), patting a Koala, and seeing a baby Joey Kangaroo in its mother’s pouch.

Yesterday I got my new toy for the month. An AUS$20 remote controlled helicopter I bought off the internet. Actually, I bought one for myself and one for my brother so we can undertake missions together (or something). It has a polystyrene chassis, weighs 10g, and is very difficult to control. It doesn’t work in the wind, doesn’t like air-conditioning vents, and can’t be used in direct sunlight as it interferes with the infrared transmitter/receiver. But.. it’s awesome cheap fun!!! Unfortunately, after the first five minutes of use I broke one by flying it into a brick wall. I guess you could say it was a steep learning curve. This left just one ‘copter between my brother and I. A photo of it is shown below.
