Cleland Wildlife Park / Mini Helicopter

Cleland Wildlife Park / Mini Helicopter

Today I went up to Cleland Wildlife Park with Morven, her mother, and her Aunt from Scotland. It’s probably best to let the photos do the talking. I took Dad’s Canon 350D camera and practiced my photography. My favourite photo I took is shown below as a thumbnail. Clicking it will take you to the gallery.

The highlights were seeing a Tasmanian Devil (which I don’t think I’ve seen before), patting a Koala, and seeing a baby Joey Kangaroo in its mother’s pouch.

Yesterday I got my new toy for the month. An AUS$20 remote controlled helicopter I bought off the internet. Actually, I bought one for myself and one for my brother so we can undertake missions together (or something). It has a polystyrene chassis, weighs 10g, and is very difficult to control. It doesn’t work in the wind, doesn’t like air-conditioning vents, and can’t be used in direct sunlight as it interferes with the infrared transmitter/receiver. But.. it’s awesome cheap fun!!! Unfortunately, after the first five minutes of use I broke one by flying it into a brick wall. I guess you could say it was a steep learning curve. This left just one ‘copter between my brother and I. A photo of it is shown below.

I’m now considering investing in something like what is shown in the video below (you need to click the link) However it’s a significant investment which will have to be postponed to ensure I’m not just compulsively wasting all my hard earned. It is called the “Twister Hawk” R/C helicopter.

Server Update

Dear anyone that cares, please don’t abuse me if something on my website doesn’t work right now, as I’ve just upgraded Apache, PHP, and MySQL. If you find any security exploits or anything that doesn’t work, please bring them to my attention, as right now I haven’t had time to test.

More quality Optus

I stumbled upon this website today that I would really like to point out to people. It’s called “Tell The Truth Telstra”, and it completely explains in full detail, why the government’s cooperation with Telstra to roll out a National Broadband Network would actually not be as good as it sounds. I’ll let you read for yourself.

http://tellthetruthtelstra.com.au

A recent letter from a local politician to myself was flogging the fact that she was supporting the national broadband network. I wrote a letter back to her enquiring about my concerns, and I have not heard back from her! I guess this means she didn’t know what the real implications of a national broadband network rolled out by Telstra and only by Telstra would do to the market.

Whilst I’m at it, I can’t resist but put yet another screen capture of an Optus website not working again.
